1:72 Scale Metal Diecast – Lockheed S-3 (S-3A) Viking VS-29 USS Enterprise – Length: 9" Wingspan: 11.5”
This Viking two pilot/crew figures for the cockpit. The landing gear can be posed as extended or retracted. A plastic display is included.
The missiles/bombs/fuel tanks need to be attached to the wings, no glue is needed. The maker of the model really did a good job with the model, the panel lines and details are very crisp and one can see the little dots that represent the rivets holding down the panels. This is really a "no-play" model or a "display-only" model. It also has a number of antennas which look great but are very fragile.
If you have small kids that like to play with your models, save yourself some frustration (and money) and wait till later to get a model like this one. The box is labeled as not suitable for children under 14. The box measures 10.25 inches long by 10.25 inches wide by 4.25 inches high.
The Lockheed S-3 Viking is a 4-crew, twin-engine turbofan-powered jet aircraft that was used by the U.S. Navy (USN) primarily for anti-submarine warfare. In the late 1990s, the S-3B's mission focus shifted to surface warfare and aerial refueling. The Viking also provided electronic warfare and surface surveillance capabilities to a carrier battle group. A carrier-based, subsonic, all-weather, long-range, multi-mission aircraft; it carried automated weapon systems and was capable of extended missions with in-flight refueling. Because of its characteristic sound, it was nicknamed the "Hoover" after the vacuum cleaner brand.
