Su-30 (Su-30MKK) Flanker - Chinese Air Force - 1/72 Scale Diecast Metal Model by Air Force 1

$ 84.99

1:72 Scale  Metal Die-Cast – Shenyang J-16  – Length: 11.8"  Wingspan: 8.25”

This J-16 model is the twin seat version. The landing gear is fixed in the extended position and the box includes a metal stand where the model can be attached for display.  The stand is made entirely of metal, it is very sturdy and it is actually held together by a nut/screw assembly. The wheels can roll freely and are quite smooth (so be careful where you put this thing, or it could roll downhill). The fuselage is all metal and really quite heavy.

The cockpit is glued shut and there are no pilot figures inside.

The model comes with 9 missiles attached (of 4 different types: two short ranged AA, 3 medium ranged AA, and two pairs of two different types of what looks like anti-ship missiles). The missiles come already attached to the model, the user does not need to do assembly.

The maker of the model, Air Force 1, really did a good job with the model, the panel lines and details are very crisp and one can see the little dots that represent the rivets holding down the panels.

This is really a "no-play" model or a "display-only" model. It is mostly metal and very heavy. It also has a number of antennas which look great but are very fragile. If you have small kids that like to play with your models, save yourself some frustration (and money) and wait till later to get a model like this one. The box is labeled as not suitable for children under 14.

The Shenyang J-16 (Chinese: 歼-16) is a new strike fighter[3] designed and manufactured byShenyang Aircraft Corporation, China. This is a multi-role fighter/bomber variant based on the J-11BS with longer range and upgraded avionics, the concept is similar to F-15E Strike Eagle. The first few photos of J-16 were published on Chinese internet websites around June 2012. It appears J-16 has a slightly different vertical stabilizer compared to J-11 fighter or J-15 naval fighter. It is also equipped with missile pylons for Chinese PL-8 air-to-air missiles, another difference compared to earlier J-11 variants.

Like the J-11BS and the J-15, the fighter features numerous enhancements such as an AESAradar from the 607th institute (the same manufacturer of the AESA found on the J-11B and J-15), composites, radar-absorbent materialMissile Approach WarningWS-10 engine,Electronic countermeasure upgrades, and more.[4]

According to media reports, China has developed Shenyang J-16 fighter based on the Shenyang J-11 airframe, which was copied from the RussianSukhoi Su-30MKK that was sold to China in 2000.[5][6][7]

The box is HUGE at 13.25 inches by 11.25 inches by 4.5 inches and looks like a little suitcase (it has a little plastic handle).
