Sukhoi PAK FA T-50 (Russian Stealth Fighter) 1/72 Scale Diecast Metal Model by Air Force 1

$ 79.99

1:72 Scale  Metal Die-Cast – Sukhoi PAK FA T-50  – Length: 12"  Wingspan: 8.5”

This T-50 model is single seat and includes a pilot figure. The cockpit can not open. The landing gear is optional, one can select to display the landing gear in its extended position or to cover the wheel wells as in the inflight position. A metal stand where the model can be attached for display is included.  The stand is made entirely of metal, it is very sturdy and it is held together by a nut/screw assembly. The wheels can roll freely and are quite smooth (so be careful where you put this thing, or it could roll downhill). The fuselage is all metal and really quite heavy.

As the T-50 is supposed to be a stealth aircraft, the weapons are carried internally, so there are no weapons to be attached to the wings of fuselage. However, there is an option to display the fuselage bay doors in the open position displaying a total of six AA missiles.

The maker of the model, Air Force 1, really did a good job with the model, the panel lines and details are very crisp and one can see the little dots that represent the rivets holding down the panels. Moreover, the antenna at the tip of the nose, is made of metal.

This is really a "no-play" model or a "display-only" model. It is mostly metal and very heavy. It also has a number of antennas which look great but are very fragile. If you have small kids that like to play with your models, save yourself some frustration (and money) and wait till later to get a model like this one. The box is labeled as not suitable for children under 14.

The PAK FA (RussianПАК ФАRussianПерспективный авиационный комплекс фронтовой авиацииPerspektivny Aviatsionny Kompleks Frontovoy Aviatsii, literally "Prospective Airborne Complex of Frontline Aviation") is a fifth-generation fighter programme of the Russian Air Force. The T-50 is the aircraft designed by Sukhoi for the PAK FA programme. The aircraft is a stealthy, single-seat, twin-engine jet fighter, and will be the first operational aircraft in Russian service to use stealth technology. It is a multirole combat aircraft designed for the air superiority and ground attack functions. It combines supercruise, stealth,maneuverability, and advanced avionics to overcome previous generation fighter aircraft along with many ground and maritime defences.[9][10]

The PAK FA is intended to be the successor to the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian Air Force and serve as the basis for the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) being co-developed by Sukhoi and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force.[11][12] The T-50 prototype first flew on 29 January 2010 and production aircraft is slated for delivery to the Russian Air Force starting in 2016.[13] The prototypes and initial production batch will be delivered with a highly upgraded variant of the AL-31F used by the Su-27 family as interim engines while a new clean-sheet design powerplant is currently under development. The aircraft is expected to have a service life of up to 35 years.[14]
