Boeing 747-8 Sunrise Livery Inflight Version 1/200 Scale Model by Hogan

1:200 Scale  Plastic Snap-Fit – Boeing 747-8i – Length:14.75"  Wingspan: 13.75"

This Hogan 747-8 has great details, from the wing panels to the color and markings on the fuselage and engines. All is where it is supposed to be. The fuselage feels dense (heavy) than other brand models of the same scale and size.

This model version is the INFLIGHT VERSION, the main feature for this version is that the wings have a little bit of upward flex. Moreover, it includes a display stand.

The landing gear requires the user to attach/assemble it to the fuselage and wings. Although it is supposed to be snap/friction fit, a tiny drop of glue might be used to secure the landing gear in place (and not having fall off or get loosen). The landing gear itself is beautiful, from the photos you can see that they depict the real deal with all its parts and robustness. However, as robust and sturdy as the landing gear appears to be, remember that at the end they are tiny plastic pieces that can't take much stress (without breaking or bending) because of their size, they are indeed very fragile (and therefore the age recommendation of 14 rather than the usual 8 from other models). Even when indulging in role playing landings and take offs (we all do it, don't pretend you don't) one has to be very delicate with this model.

All in all the Hogan line of models is very high quality, the materials and details are very impressive.

Things to notice in this line:

- Accurate landing gear

- Smooth rolling wheels on the landing gear (be sure to place it in a flat surface)

- Rubber tires and metallic looking wheels (hubs)

- Pivoting landing gear

- Accurate (more or less) shaped fan blades inside the engines

- The fan blades inside the engines CAN ROTATE (if you blow onto the turbines/engines, the fan blades will turn)

The packaging is also top quality. All the parts have their own space in several plastic shells that are stacked on top or inside one another and are fitted into the box.

If you got little kids that like to take your models for a spin (even a gentle one), better save yourself some frustration and wait till they are old enough to follow directions before getting one of this.

Please note that this is a collector model and is not recommended for children under 14.

The Boeing 747-8 is a wide-body jet airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Officially announced in 2005, the 747-8 is the third-generation of the 747, with lengthened fuselage, redesigned wings, and improved efficiency. The 747-8 is the largest 747 version, the largest commercial aircraft built in the United States, and the longest passenger aircraft in the world.[3]

The 747-8 is offered in two main variants: the 747-8 Intercontinental (747-8I) for passengers and the 747-8 Freighter (747-8F) for cargo. The first 747-8F performed the model's maiden flight on February 8, 2010, with the 747-8 Intercontinental following on March 20, 2011. Delivery of the first freighter aircraft occurred in October 2011 and the passenger model began deliveries in 2012. As of October 2014, confirmed orders for the 747-8 totalled 119, comprising 68 of the freighter version, and 51 of the passenger version.
